Phew I counted correctly. I got a bonus day of being 50, over what a lot of other people get. Yay?

Looking back and evaluating my Year of Being 50, I really wanted to do a lot of exciting things. And I did do a fair number of them. But in between excitement and eventfulness, life was the same, with all of my debilitating anxiety, the stress of life’s uncertainties, and dealing with my dad’s estate and (separately) figuring out our family’s next life steps. Along with being there for my family in so, so many ways, and having a busy calendar.

Though, when I look back on this year in the future, I’ll do my best to remember the notable events, such as getting my second ear piercings redone, going on a family adventure up to the Pacific Northwest, house sitting for a friend in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, seeing yet another total solar eclipse and a partial annular eclipse, getting together with family a few times, learning some new creative skills and trying out new forms of art, and a few other things.

There was just too much going on to fully take over the year with self-care, personal growth, and novel experiences, despite that being my goal. I’m sure in a couple of years, I can shift my priorities. Maybe I can make another effort at age 53, my next prime number age.
