Year of Being 50: Day 345: Adventures
I’d like to have more adventures, and be systematic about it (these are not mutually exclusive).
I’ve always had a mix of home routine and adventures in my life. But a couple of things happened at various points to curtail my adventures, or at least severely limit them for different reasons, including a relationship breakup and the stupid pandemic. The first one hasn’t affected my adventure decisions in a couple of years, but the second one has been an ongoing influence for four years and counting, and still keeps me/us from having certain types of adventures (i.e., those where you’re packed into a small space with other people).
We have had various adventures of other kinds in recent years, though some of my traveling has been because of reasons outside my control (such as gathering with my siblings to visit my dad and clean out his house before he died).
But I look forward to a future where, instead of spending my spare time packing boxes and making sure I’ve anticipated everyone’s needs for things they need help with, instead of spending weekends doing laundry, paying bills, and grocery shopping, or carving out time to finish yet another of the too-many projects I’ve started for myself, that I’m spending my weekends (and some weeks) having adventures with my Rory and my family. Exploring new places, meeting new people, and doing things I’ve never done before.
We’re not quite there yet—and I need to stop starting so many projects—but I hope to be there soon.
