The Frugal Repast

So, for a couple of years there, I think we were overbuying food. Any time something we normally ate was on a really good sale, I’d make sure we stocked up. Our chest freezer (and fridge freezer) have been perpetually full.

A few months ago, we started making an effort to eat up things in our freezer (and pantry) that are either more than we want to keep on hand or things that we won’t replace when they’re gone.

It’s surprising how long it takes to use up food, especially when we’re down one family member with Kid #2 off at college during the school year. But we are making progress. My goal is to get to the point where the only frozen food we have is all in the fridge freezer. And that we can keep all our food in the pantry (and not stacked haphazardly above the kitchen cabinets).

Hopefully we’ll get to that point in a few months!
