Free lectures are at your fingertips! You just need to seek them out.

One thing that COVID really accelerated is the availability of online lectures. Without having to leave my home, I’ve gone with Rick Steves all over Europe, I’ve learned about geology from the Smithsonian, and even learned about things like slave narratives as physical artifacts (from the American Antiquarian Society). I’ve also learned a lot about Montclair, New Jersey, where much of my dad’s family lived for a few generations (from the Montclair History Center), and watched so many webinars about family history research, from the Legacy Family Tree folks.

It’s not hard to discover these kinds of lectures, if you’re interested. Just follow organizations that interest you on social media or get on their mailing lists. They will inform you of webinars!
