My brain doesn’t deviate much from its trains of thought.

I need to start figuring out how to do smaller projects. Writing projects, to be more specific. I’ll have an idea, work on it, keep adding content, the project grows, I add more content, repeat myself thinking I didn’t already include some content, and then by the time I get to the editing stage, it’s such a mess that it takes so many iterations of going through it from start to finish that I could have written a whole other book in that time. And I have to cut out about 1/3 of the content because it’s just me repeating myself.

Part of it is that I can’t work on such projects full-time, because, you know, bills. So I lose the thread when I have to put it down for days/weeks/months at a time.

It’s often amusing, though, when I find two paragraphs in different parts of the book that make the same point, and they’ll be worded almost exactly the same way. You could say my brain has patterns…

Once I’m done with this project, I think I’ll try for shorter projects for a while. Or, maybe, no projects. Except I have far too many ideas and goals to just work on nothing. Can’t turn off my brain.
