One of our cats, Lavinius, we believe has an anxiety disorder. As a kitten, he was tossed over a fence, and he came to us through the person who found him.

When he feels safe, he is very affectionate and cuddly, and loves to have his tummy rubbed and have pressure put on it.

But he rarely feels safe, and will lash out at people just for walking by or doing the wrong thing.

He spends most of his day sleeping on a chair, or sitting on my desk chair behind me. I’m his safe person most of the time, but even I can’t always calm his anxiety.

I understand him, because I am him. But without claws, and with a lot more words to explain my experience.
