Year of Being 50: Day 74: Pacific Northwest Trip, Day 5
This was the final day for the Redwoods, where we took an incredible drive on Howland Hill Road. I wasn’t sure if it was a good idea, because it isn’t paved, but their idea of “not paved” and Arizona’s idea of “not paved” are quite different. It is a well-maintained road. This was my second-favorite part of the Redwoods. You got so, so close to the trees (barely enough room between them for the car in some places), and it was so pretty.
We wanted to also do a short hike in the area at Stout Grove, but the mosquitoes were thick and we were not up for being a meal.
Then, we drove on to Portland, Oregon, where we stayed a couple of nights with some dear friends.
By this point, I decided that the forested Pacific Northwest is just… perfect.
