A Surprise Pride & Prejudice Proposal (No, Not Mine)
The other day I came across one of the most awesome things I’d ever seen.
Let’s back up. In case you didn’t get it by now, I’m a huge fan of Jane Austen novels. Pride & Prejudice and Persuasion battle it out regularly to be my favorite. Mansfield Park is my least favorite. Anyway, I digress.
Someone on Facebook linked to a surprise marriage proposal, Pride & Prejudice style. It’s pretty much just a photo essay, but the photos speak volumes to those of us who have always dreamed of a Mr. Darcy sweeping us off our feet. The look on the woman’s face was priceless. You just know what she was feeling. I started to get giddy for her.
Then I got a couple of photos down and my Facebook app crashed on my phone. And when I got it back up and running, of course Facebook changed the posts that it was showing me. <insert grumble about software that’s actually free and I know I shouldn’t complain too much>
I managed to use my Google-fu to get back to it, and I finally saw the whole set of photos. I wish I could have been there, watching this woman’s glee in person. Neither of my marriage proposals were anything like this, and I’m quite content with how they went down. They were both very appropriate to who gave them.
But if ever anyone wanted to really do a number on me, in a good way, here’s a playbook.
And Rory would make a smashing Mr. Darcy.
