I found my first grey or white hair when I was 39. I’m sure there had to have been some before that, since I can’t see my whole head very easily. But I thought that was a pretty late age, as most people my age that I knew already had (or were covering up) their greys.

Here I am at 50, with considerably more grey or white hair than at 39. But, other than on the sides of my head where it’s almost 100% grey/white now, I still have less than 50% grey/white hair on my head. Not too bad. People still think I’m younger than I am, though the woman at the checkout the other day basically refused to card me when we bought wine to cook with. She saw the white hair on the side of my head and that was all it took. Ah well. Maybe it’ll make people believe me more when I hit 55 and start using as many senior discounts as I can find.
