Year of Being 50: Day 277: The Joy of Adult Children
Though my kids haven’t formally flown the coop yet (one is working full-time but living at home, and the other is in college so is sometimes at home), they’re both technically adults, and it’s so great to continue to have relationships with them.
They know themselves pretty well, and they have all their own ideas and can express them! They seek me out to spend time with me, and are happy to spend time with me when I seek them out. They’re honest with me if I ever cross any line, because they know that I’ll take in their words and change my behavior, and not get defensive.
They’re mulling their future and will likely make some pretty good decisions, but they know I’ll be there for them if they fall.
And, they know how to cook, one of them knows how to drive, they clean up after themselves… It’s so great.
