One of the things I love about the holiday season is festive eating. Though my waistline and blood sugar would discourage me, eating a variety of tasty treats helps me enjoy the holiday. And one easy way to do that without making about 10-15 different kinds of treats is to have a cookie exchange.

I’ve been to a number of them in my day, and there was always something new to discover. But, either I don’t have the right sorts of friends anymore, or they just fell out of favor, but I haven’t heard of anyone doing one in a long time, even pre-COVID.

The fact that COVID and flu and RSV and such are still raging out there in the world would keep us from attending or organizing a cookie exchange these days, but I do miss the built-in variety of cookie experiences inherent a cookie exchange, and I hope our current plagues will eventually subside enough that I can attend one again in the future.
