Though I didn’t know the word, until a number of years ago, I’ve been eating charcuterie boards my whole life. (Not the actual boards, mind you—the food placed on top, silly.) I’d eat them at dinner parties, or my mom would throw one together, etc. Though they were a lot less fancy than the ones you see these days with that moniker attached. Still, there was meat, cheese, crackers, often some fruit.

Rory, Kid #1, and I recently got a chance to try a Platterful charcuterie kit, and it was a lot of fun. Expensive and far outside our actual budget, but it was like eating fancy party food but at home without the socializing. Plus there was enough for a little leftovers.
