Year of Being 50: Day 34: The Flying Jenny
Did you know I was an airplane? Or that I used to be?
Ha.
But really, one of the early planes was fondly called a Jenny. The Curtiss JN. It was famously made into a stamp that was misprinted with the plane upside down. You can learn all about the plane and the stamp from Wikipedia but the Smithsonian also has information and some great photos of an actual plane.
The postal museum also has some plate proofs from the stamp, here and here.
