Bristol Box #10: For Those Who Have Cats
Cats are my favorite pets. Except for a few brief breaks, I’ve had at least one cat for the past 35 years. As any cat owner knows, sometimes the free items are the best. Twist ties, milk jug pulls, string, and plastic balls are quite fun for them to bat around, stalk, pounce on, and chase. But if you’re looking for something more in depth, this week’s Bristol Box has you covered.

Treats
For most of my cats, the store-bought treats just don’t cut it. They prefer the best. So cat nip and Kitty Kaviar are what they get when I want to spoil them.

Toys
Kick toys really get cats going when they have some energy to use up. Or find some toys that go <crinkle>.

Health and Sanity
Cat beds are pretty important for cats, whether you find a platform bed, like at left, or a hammock type bed, like at right. They need a spot to call their own. And if there’s a scratching post as part of it, even better. Also, cats who shed need to be brushed regularly, especially if there is someone in the house who’s allergic.

Education
If you still have trouble figuring out what your cat is trying to communicate to you, try a book like How to Speak Cat: A Guide to Decoding Cat Language by the folks at National Geographic.
And don’t forget to keep one of the cardboard boxes that your purchases come in. Your cat will play with that more than anything else (or perhaps just sleep in it).
