Over on my First Person History blog, where I’ve been typing up my great grandfather, Arthur’s letters from rebuilding Germany after WWII, a couple of letters recently have really stood out as interesting and influential. The most interesting of which included a letter from Arthur’s Haus Frau, Edith. She was so optimistic about the future, saying how much work the mothers could do to make the world a better place. It’s so moving, I cry whenever I read it. Here’s a link to the post that includes that letter. I encourage you to go read it. It shows a side of German history that we usually don’t see.

Another of his recent letters that made an impression on me had two different interesting parts. One was a tour around Bavaria and Arthur’s observations on that. The other was a commentary on the politics of post-war Germany. Interesting in an entirely different way. Here’s that letter.
