Year of Being 50: Day 301: The Value of Outside Influences for Motivation
Motivation is where you find it.
I wasn’t sure how to title this one, because I don’t mean external motivation, like due dates or requirements placed on you or anything. I mean, gathering input from other people or sources that motivates you effectively, for whatever reason.
I have a lot of life goals, or things I’d really love to do, either as hobbies, life experiences, or even ways to make money. And I’ve found that certain types of people, listening to them extol the virtues of a certain path or method or lifestyle, can really motivate me, even if their own reasons are hollow or self-serving. Some people are just charismatic. So I take from them what I find beneficial, and leave the rest (definitely not giving them any money).
I’m leaving this vague because it applies to lots of different things.
I hope you all embrace motivation where you find it!
