In recent years, more and more famous and semi-famous people have come out as autistic. Either they are now just sharing this information, or they themselves are just now learning this fact about themselves. Especially creative types, especially those who aren’t quite mainstream. (Surprise, surprise.)

Since many of them are vocal on their platforms, it’s helping to normalize being autistic faster and more effectively than those of us with itty bitty platforms can make happen. I am so grateful for the road being made smoother by everyone’s group effort.

I’m thinking specifically of Matt Haig when I write this (I loved him and his work long before The Midnight Library came out), but there have been so many others. It’s interesting when you like someone’s work for a long time but you’re unable to explain what it is about it that you like so much, and they turn out to be neurodivergent. Then it’s like, “Ohhhhhh! That explains it.”

Thanks, all, for being visible and making it easier for others to be safely visible.
