Year of Being 50: Day 236: Spending Time in Nature
Don’t worry, I’m not going to say that a walk in nature will cure all of your ills. It won’t. But it will help some things. At least if you’re in the right mindset.
I read this article in The Guardian the other day that reminded me of things I already knew but it was good to have them reinforced.
Mostly this: Spend time in nature! Get outside! Look at trees! Listen to birds! Look at water (when possible)! Be in the moment and pay attention to what is going on around you (outside)!
I appreciated the kick in the pants and started going for walks again, even though it’s quite frigid in the morning. Still, a nine-minute power walk, stopping because my face is becoming numb, is better than nothing!
The article recommends 30+ minutes per day, but when I don’t have to go outside for anything, sometimes it’s hard to prioritize that. I know I should, for sure. But in all practicality, it’s a challenge.
