Spoonflower’s 12 Days of Design: Day #7: Create a Digital File
The last couple of challenge days have led up to this: creating a digital version of your artwork. After today, you have to have your stuff 100% ready, since tomorrow’s task is to upload your design. I’ve struggled to find time to do all the touch up work on my images, so I had to take a couple of days in between posts. But, I didn’t want to do this halfway.
I kept going back and forth on how to do my images. Do I draw it in a digital format to begin with, and hope the resolution is high enough? Do I draw it by hand, then ink it, scan it, and fuss with it in GIMP? Each method has its pros and cons, and took me longer than I expected to sort out the best system for me. For this time, in the end I went with a digital image to begin with, but then I still had to touch it up in GIMP.
If you don’t use GIMP or Sketches Pro, which seem to be my two go-to programs these days, Spoonflower has a bunch of suggestions in today’s task blog post. But get your files ready, for tomorrow we upload!
